Shoulder Pain and Chronic Low Back Pain

Dear Dr. Wellens,
I wanted to let you know that I am doing very well, thanks to your care. I had chronic back pain for the last five years.

There was a low level of back pain constantly. I was able to do my daily activities but any activity that required twisting or bending (i.e. tennis, hiking and playing soccer with my son) was limited. In addition, the back problem “flared up” once or twice per year. During these flare ups, even my daily activities were severely limited. In fact, I might miss 1 or 2 days of work because I was unable to get out of bed during the flare up. I had seen another chiropractor who practiced the more traditional methods of adjustments. I also saw a massage therapist for over a year. Their treatments, along with two to three weeks of rest, would help the acute pain syndrome, but I would continue to have a low level of back pain that was constant all day, and I continued to have the flare ups.

I have been with you for about 18 months, and I have done extremely well! I have not had a flare up since we met. More importantly, the treatments that you performed, and the exercises you have recommended have improved my day-to-day back pain. You may not realize this, but I have not been in to see you for over 6 months, thanks to your treatments. I do the exercises you recommended three to five times each week, and I continue to improve. I have not felt this well in years!
My shoulder has also improved significantly. You may recall that I never had much difficultly with my shoulder in the past. I injured my shoulder playing tennis while on vacation, and the pain was aggravated by carrying luggage and not seeking medical attention. I was taking ibuprofen regularly for this, but it was not helping. Your adjustments and recommended exercise program have me back on the tennis courts again and pain free!

As you know, I think very highly of you and your approach to musculoskeletal problems… so much so that I have referred my friends and family to you and will continue to do so.

Thank you again for all of your help.
